The Colour of Law

Description

A. Scott Fenney is a hotshot corporate lawyer at a big Dallas firm. At 33, in the prime of his life, he rakes in $750,000 a year, drives a Ferrari and comes home every night to a mansion in Dallas's most exclusive neighbourhood. He also comes home to one of Dallas's most beautiful women, with whom he has a much-loved daughter, Boo. For Fenney, life could not be better. But when a senator's son is killed in a hit-and-run, Fenney is asked by the state judge to put his air-conditioned lifestyle on hold to defend the accused: a black, heroin-addicted prostitute - a very different client to the people Fenney usually represents. And, more importantly, she is not going be paying Ford Stevens $350 an hour for the privilege of his services. Under fire from all sides, Fenney drafts in a public defender to take the case on. Yet as Scott prepares to hand over to Bobby, he feels increasingly guilty about the path he is taking, because Scott still believes in the principle of justice. The question is: does he believe in it strongly enough to jeopardise everything in his life he holds dear? And to what lengths is the dead man's power-hungry father prepared to go to test Fenney's resolve?

Penny Dale s cozy take on a favorite nursery rhyme takes on new charm in a board book edition with an appealing new cover. I was the last pharaoh of Egypt. I am Cleopatra. When Nicole leaves the next day, the two women know little more about the other than her first nameyet they are now lovers instead of strangers. Life Points--Short quotes and comments from Joyce offering you encouragement and wisdom during challenging times. One in four women and one in six men will suffer from depression at least once in their life. Few are immune. It was the greatly admired Winston The Colour of Law free download pdf Churchill, a depression sufferer for much of his life, who nicknamed this human condition "Black Dog." "Living with a Black Dog" is perhaps the most useful book ever created about depression. In simple text and strongly supportive illustrations, this slim volume examines, explains, and demystifies one of the most widespread and debilitating problems afflicting modern society. Whether you've struggled with your own Black Dog for years, wondered why you're feeling sort of "ruff" lately, or known someone shadowed by a dark canine, "Living with a Black Dog" is for you. Artist and writer Matthew Johnstone, a depression sufferer himself, delivers a moving and uplifting insight into life with this unsavory companion. Even better, the book shows the strength and support to be found within and around us to tame this shaggy beast and ultimately bring it to heel. Johnstone's book doesn't pretend to have all the answers. It doesn't resort to simple "dog tricks" for dealing with depression. But "Living with a Black Dog" does deliver understanding, hope, and the assurance that Black Dog days are not forever.
